Cork Passport Holder
So I saw a twitter post (by @FQchef) about a People’s Republic of Cork passport holder and thought immediately, “I MUST have one!”.
First port of call was proc.com and I was surprised it wasn’t one of their products. A quick Google later and I’d found this company in Navan, Identitas, who are making them, along with a few other versions: Catalunya and Basque.
The description sounded good enough to me:
Real leather passport cover for the Rebel Republic. With interior pockets, fits the European Union standard passport size. Cludach leathair do poblacht corcai a oireann do pas an t-Aontas Eorpach. 11.99 Euros (incl Post and Packaging). Measures 10 cm by 15 cm.
One PayPal authorisation later and a €12 passport holder was promised to me. The seller even sent me an email to say thanks and it’s on the way.
I’ve had a nice, black Guinness holder (I couldn’t find a Murphys one) for a few years which cost me about the same, so my expectations were set but maybe too high? I was disappointed. The holder is too big for an Irish passport and has no place to keep my cards. Its a great idea, I just wish it was a little better, a little higher quality, a little more than a gimmick for us corkonians.
Here’s some photos:
